This week America got some really bad news. Elizabeth Taylor passed away. She had lived a long and productive life and now it was time for us to say good bye to her. She will certainly be missed. She was a leading lady that could bring it, on and off the big screen. She was a total package, both sexy and smart. There hasn't been a leading lady like her since. She grew up during a time when the world was innocent. It was a time when people went to movies and got entertained and enlightened.
I fell in love with Ms. Taylor when I saw the movie Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. This movie was filmed at a time when Hollywood knew how to write and produce movies with substance. Unlike today, where movies are pumped out on assembly lines. Most of the movies today are only repeats of previous movies, previous movies that wasn't that good to start with. I miss those old movies, the ones you could curl up on the couch with on a good rainy weekend with a bowl of popcorn and just be lazy all day.
One of the things that made Cat On A Hot Tin Roof a hit, was the fact that it had an all star cast. I love the movie because the script was so well written. This movies is full of metaphors. For instance, the phone click and the click that is inside Brick's head. The one that he had to hear before he could stop drinking for the day. (Great writing). I do not think that today's movies writers have the talent to write something that deep. Its either that or they feel that today's audience, isn't intelligent enough to comprehend intellectual movies.
Wow. I miss back when...
