It is so hard to find a dog sitter when you travel out of town. Recently I went on a mini vacation to Miami to see my son and needed a dog sitter. The sitter that I normally use could not sit for my dog, so I had to settle with letting a co-worker take care of him (it was the 9th hour and the pickings were few). I was very grateful that she helped me out because I don't know what I would have done if she hadn't. My trip was only for a week and I didn't think that it wouldn't be a problem. Boy, was I wrong.
After a few days in Florida, I decided to call and check on my best friend. The woman that was assigned to take care of him told me that he was dead and buried in the back yard. I was shocked..
She later told me that she was just kidding but she really wanted to kill my dog because he was pissing all over her house. (This is something that he never does at home) I don't know if this was a behavior he was exhibiting so I was there but I instructed her to tell him to stop.
She went on to tell me that he was growling at her boyfriend and that he hadn't eaten a thing since I dropped him off. I began to worry because I don't want my dog to be a burden for anyone.
When I arrived back in town, I picked up my dog and he ate for over 30mins. I gave him a bath and he sleep all night. I have learned my lesson, next time I will take him to a kennel.
